Last weekend was my first experience skiing in the mountains at the start of the season. As a ‘poor intermediate’ skier and known to be a tad accident prone, I usually prefer to wait until there is plenty of snow and less opportunity to hurt myself.
There are though always exceptions to the rule, and as a short trip away was needed I headed out with a few friends to try out Nakiska Ski Resort in Kananaskis.
The ski day was a lot of fun despite the resort being hit with 90km winds! The sun was shining and the conditions were acceptable for the time of year; and I walked away with only a couple of bruises.
First ski trip to the mountains in November = deemed a great success!
Welcome to my new blog page. I created this page to help confirm to myself and others that I am in fact a writer!
Yes, I’m one of those people that always had a dream tucked away in the back of my brain, that one day I would write a book.
During a conversation with a friend a few months ago, I asked her what she would do if she won the lottery. The answers were typical, travelling, buying a nice house and car and helping friends and family, “but what next?” I asked. This is a difficult question to answer for most of us, give it a try!
Later, I reflected that I had never actually considered this (very wise) question myself. My response was a little different to what I expected; ‘to write, and maybe kayak and hike in my spare time’.
Since then and with the encouragement of friends and family, I have started to dip my toe into the freelance writing world. The astonishing outcome … I LOVE it!
In the past I’d always hesitated to write, because I was not entirely sure what area to delve into. To others who know me, it was obvious. I am passionate about a few things but without doubt, travel, tourism and the outdoors are at the top of my list.
And now … the sky is the limit and it’s time to start listening to my own advice. Henry David Thoreau is the author of one of my favourite quotes; “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.”
Feel free to come along for the ride!
